The MUSIC echo was closed and we are redirected to VIDEO which has nothing to do with music except for MTV. The name doesn't make sense.

I was against this whole expansion in the first place, then it expanded and then it contracted to FSX_LFE and then that went away and then FSX_MUSIC went away so we're pretty much going to be back where we started.

That said, this echo needs to be renamed to FSX_VAM for Video and Music since it's no longer just video focused, with the official description also updated.

did you read any of the messages on the network for the past month?

they are combined, with a short and long description change, so FSX_VIDEO is pretty much only used internally to avoid having to require people to manually sub to a renamed one

Hell, MTV hasn't been MTV since like the 90s. Then they made MTV2 to actually start playing music again. I don't even know if that is still around. Then IMO stupid drama/reality shows are all over and have such a following. Reminds me of Facebook :)

I am old enough to remember the countdown to MTV coming online and the first music video.

M2 was great when it started out. Eventually when it changed into MTV2 it just showed reruns of Real World and Road Rules and all the other MTV reality junk.

A quick look at MTV2 on SlingTV's guide today shows an upcoming 6-hour block of Ridiculousness reruns, followed by The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

Don't miss it.

Yeah, which is unfortunate. I used to really enjoy the History Channel,
but now it is all aliens (as you note), ghosts, and reality shows.

I would love an indie MTV that promoted up-and-coming bands and cheesy, low-production value videos with great music.

Nigel, this was all well signaled and discussed in FSX_NET since late Jan 2025. I note you are subbed to that echo but did not take part in any of the discussions.

The name against the FSX_VIDEO has been updated in FSXNET.NA, this was also well signaled prior to change over, with updates posted to FSX_NET the admin echo, into history.txt, on fsxnet.nz and also here back on 16 Feb.

Sure, but nothing ventured, nothing gained huh? The general feedback at the time of expanding the echomail areas was supportive so we tried it, some worked some did not, so we have changed it again with less echos... can't see any harm in doing any of that... sorry you didn't enjoy the ride thus far.

The descriptions *have* been updated, and were well signaled, it's you who are not up to date with the announcements posted across the network. Suggest you keep a closer eye on the Admin echo FSX_NET. That's what it's there for.

The echomail tag is not changing at this time, I don't want to create a new echomail area and impose extra impost on sysops to create yet another echo when we can keep the current tag and broaden the range of topics for this echo which now includes all musical subjects etc.

This reasoning was also recently explained in the Admin echo in reply to a similar query over naming conventions.
