No BBS software is going to use this connect string by default. It
would be expecting "CONNECT 57600" or other such speed. If the
emulated modem doesn't return an expected result code, the BBS will
not acknowledge that a connection has taken place.
so, now i have checked the modem response settings in raconfig. its
behaving a bit strange. i first tried to get a space in between CONNECT
and 57600 and had to use 2 spaces to make 1 space appear. did not help.
then i tried 1 space and then 2 spaces after RING cause the string i get displayed in the status window of RA is actually RINGCONNECT57600.
finally with 2 spaces after RING it finally moved on and connected to the
BBS. Very strange. i dont remember that i had to do that back in the 90
:)
btw with 1 space between CONNECT and 57600 in the settings it now shows
the 1 space correct in the status window of RA on incoming call. like
CONNECT 57600. when it needed 2 spaces just a moment ago to show up
correctly. i'm not sure what is happening here, but i leave it the way it worked and never touch it again :D
But i think continue to let FrontDoor make the connection. It adds to
the Retro Flair hehe..
Thanks for the hint,
