So ive been trying to get a couple of my old favorite door games to work under dosemu on linux.

It seems that they have some Y2K bug and they wont start and i cant think of a way to get either of them working except to put something in the batch file that sets the date to prior to 1999-12-31.

Has anyone encountered this issue with either of these games and how did you resolve it?

I have BRE installed and have not run into this issue. I am using version 0.998 which, I think, was the last version.

b r e shouldn't have an issue, but in SREset the date to before 2000, reset
the gameplay it onceor at least enter it, Then set the date to the proper datethen run it again. it will seem to lock up, but it's running the maintenance on each day since 2000.it will probably take about 15 minutes or longer depending on how fast your system is.let it run, then you can run the game normally

You say 'either of these games', but you didn't specify what the games are. Which games are giving you this trouble?

I have BRE installed and running with dosemu (actually, dosemu2), and it seems to be running okay.

I also have SRE and it appears it's having a problem (I thought it was working on my system). I wonder if it may just be misconfigured on my system.. I'll have to check on that.

This is correct. However, it's also worth nothing that every time someone enters the SRE door, that maintenance routine runs again for every hour since the last time someone played. So, if a long time passes without anyone playing (which is normally the case), the next person who enters the door might have to wait a very long time before they can play.

I display a text screen to warn users about this before the door starts.
