HUH? The only Jonah I know is the one in the story of Jonah and

It's the same one. He basically was "running from God",
as he hated the people who lived in Ninevah. God wanted
him to warn them that judgment was imminent, unless
repentance was forthcoming. Jonah basically wanted the
Ninevites wiped out, as they were a threat to Israel and
the Jews.

The VeggieTales movie about Jonah is hilarious. They represented
the iniquity as the people going around slapping other people in
the face with fishes.

Well, I had thoughts about eating lunch until I typed
this reply. :P

I just learned that Tolkien wrote a commentary on the Jonah
story.

BTW.. WRT to your attempt to explain the logics of stomach acid
in the fish, check out the book Jonah by (forgot the the author,
but will look it up.. I have some of the author's books in my
shop). It explores what it might have been like in the belly of
the great beast. As a sceptic, I was impressed with the
imagining.

Lastly, there are other "changes" in the hebrew text that
suggest that Jonah was in TWO great fishes: the first one (male)
and large stomach and therefore refused to pray, and the second
one (female) with much smaller stomach and therefore he began to
pray.

I would think so. It was basically "a large fish", and that could
have been anything...or "an extra large minnow" <G>.

As a ham radio operator, I've been "cannibalistic" lately...eating
ham sandwiches (regular and black forest) <G>. Portions of Arkansas
have from 1 to 2 feet of snow on the ground right now, and virtually everything...roads, businesses, etc., are shut down.

There are scores of abandoned vehicles along the roads, and in some
areas, water mains have burst, creating a sheet of ice on the roads...
on top of the snow that was already there. Interstate 40, the main
east-west route through the country, is littered with wrecked and
abandoned vehicles either side of Little Rock.

Plus, the power companies have been doing "rolling blackouts"...so
far, I've been lucky. I saw where the city of Lufkin, Texas literally "depleted its water supply". A warm-up is supposed to begin over the
weekend into next week...but warmer weather also leads to tornado
season.

Back to the deli sandwiches, I got several of the "Family Packs",
and am able to make up 8 sandwiches. I eat 2 per meal, then put the
others back for later meals...basically food for 2 days. Plus, doing
them on paper plates means there are no dishes to wash...and no hot
water to use. I'm just doing "a bird bath" until things warm up more.
