My daughter's contractions are just a few minutes apart now so I may be a granddad at some point today.

Funny that I am even more stressed right now than I was with mine and my
wife's last daughter. Guess it was "old hat" by then but this is something completely different.

I have six grandchildren by marriage but this is my oldest daughter's first
and my first by birth.

When your daughters are little ya don't think about them being/getting pregnant
and having their own kids. But that day does and will come. Then you come to the realization of your daughter becoming a mother.

Nowadays parents feel they need to be individualistic, I guess... :)
Just wait, the kid might well do as many kids before her have done and
change her name (and or the spelling thereof)... We named our son
Robert Judson, after his great-grandfather Roscoe Judson (RJ) Backus...
the kid now goes by Johnny... he does allow certain people who have
known him all his life to call him RJ, though... ;) We might as well
have saddled him with Roscoe... <G>
