• Commodore C64U

From Chicken Head@1:103/705 to All on Fri Jan 16 17:25:30 2026
So is anyone using a C64U today? Typing this on one now, using Novaterm on a Synchronet BBS. Works great, has a built-in tcpser emulator that just works.

The C64U has both ethernet and wifi to "get online."

Yep. Exploring all the goodies on the SIM card. Haven't tried the networking yet.

I have watched that project from the start. Wish I had the $$$ to get one. Would love to relive my youth.

I considered it, but decided not to since I never owned a C64 as a kid
and already suffer with 40 columns on my Tandy laptop. That keyboard is
more my style. I also can't get over the qwerky keyboard layout of the
    C64.

I may consider a C128 or amiga if they decide to do it.

How are you liking your new device?

I wish! I only have 1980's hardware and run VICE on my GNU/Linux box.

    Have fun :)

I did the same. Got mine about a month ago and love it... Really well rounded product I must say ...

One thing I wanted to learn how to do forever is assembly programming on C64, so I've been doing that these past weeks.

My Developer Thoughts on YouTube has some great videos:

Oh gee... Forgive me for responding to a post where someone was talking about enjoying bbs's by suggesting another BBS to connect to..

I can understand your response IF this was a seperate post by itself asking / begging users to call, connect, or whatever it is you call things these days..... However it was directed at the OP, in reponse to his post.

Cool I guess to see the heavy handed moderation of this echo hasn't changed since Russel Prator ran it back in the 90s.......

Too bad you aren't a ham, I'd direct you to the nearest nightly hemrhoid care net @ 7!

One reason why it's a good idea to quote the original message, so it adds context.

    Let's see:

    1. Not addressed to the original poster, but to "all".
    2. Didn't quote *anything* from the original post.
    3. Looks like a add for a bbs disguised as a message.

Thanks for posting so I can add a new feature to the gating software to block any and all messages that come from your system from
    being gated to usenet.

Cool I guess to see the heavy handed moderation of this echo hasn't changed since Russel Prator ran it back in the 90s.......

Since I took on looking after the echo in 2013, it's been gated to usenet and I've had to put on the moderator hat on the
fidonet side *twice*. This is the second time.

it seems we get non-stop spam ADs about meetups that originate from your system then, via the usenet gating software.

could you do something about that?
