Is possible to build a better behaviour as a network culture?
I've been wondering the same thing...
The only thing I can come up with is to lead by example.
Stay positive in the negativity. Don't succumb or respond to the passive-aggressiveness. (ie don't feed the trolls)
Don't assume people are idiots just because they don't know as much as you know or don't catch on to something as quick as YOU
think they should. Be patient. Remember that the knowledge we have regarding BBS software and Echomail is 95% USELESS anywhere else, so you might as well share it with others here in abundance. Otherwise, what's the point?
Try making a light-hearted joke when you see a thread that you're following start to go down a dark road. Maybe people will lighten up.
I don't know. I've only recently returned, so I'm still just observing for the most part and getting to know the personalities in
the meantime. I don't know the history between a lot of the members, so I tend to stay out of things.
Or what the heck do I know? Maybe that's the point of Fido and the culture people want? Maybe people want a place to slam the sh*t out of others and vice versa? Who am I to judge?
Oh well... Just some thoughts as I'm drinking my coffee and waking up. o/
